OROVILLE – Oroville’s boys basketball team held its own for a half against division-leading Lake Roosevelt on Friday, Jan. 18.
But the Hornets’ offense ran dry in the second half, and Lake Roosevelt pulled away with a 30-18 second half to hand Oroville a 53-38 defeat.
The Raiders’ defense hounded Oroville’s leading scorer, Connor Hughes, into a seven-point night. Joe Sarmiento countered with 17 points, but the shorthanded Hornets – injuries kept out JoJo Barboza and hampered Dustin Nigg – couldn’t match LR point for point.
The Raiders opened the game with four 3-pointers in the first quarter, including one that went for a four point play.
Chance Garvin led Lake Roosevelt (6-8, 4-1 CWL) with 15 points.
The Hornets fell to 4-10 (1-4).
