    Looking Back at 2024 in photos top, l-r, Groundbreaking –After 24 years of hard work and planning, the Perfect Passage Project vision is turning into reality. On Aug. 27, members of the Tonasket City Council and City Clerk Alice Attwood were joined by former Councilmember Jill Ritter, Washington State Rep. Jacquelin Maycumber, Varela & Associates Engineer Kurt Holland, DOT’s Clayton Verellien, City Planner Kurt Danison and Tonasket Chamber President Michael Stewart in celebrating the event. Firefighting – A $30 million purpose-built Bridger Aerospace Super Scooper was among the planes scooping water out of Osoyoos in August to drop on the Sunset Fire northeast of Oroville in the 9 Mile area. The plane can scoop up 14,000 gallons of water in 12 seconds. This was one of nine planes that were fighting the fire, about 2.5 miles from the Canadian Border. Garlic Festival – The rain didn’t keep the fun away during the Garlic Festival in Tonasket, (middle row) Ironwood Project – Yee Haw Chesaw – The Chesaw Fourth of July Rodeo took place under sunny skies. The rodeo was well attended as saddle, ranch and bareback riders competed as well as cow riders and barrel racers, A Mighty Wind – A rain and windstorm hit the north end of the county blowing over several large trees in the Oroville area and knocking out electrical power to parts of Oroville and as far south as Ellisforde. (bottom row) – Christmas Light Up - The grand finale of his year’s Oroville Community Christmas Tree Lighting was a fireworks display provided by Discount Fireworks, Bike Tour-ists - A group of five bicyclists make their way to Oroville’s Osoyoos Lake Veterans Park in July.
