Will encourage open transparent system

Published 7:55 am Sunday, August 14, 2016

Dear Editor,

The election results appear positive for the next phase of my campaign to improve Okanogan County government. I want to thank all of those who assisted, supported, volunteered, donated, and voted for me in the Okanogan County Commissioner District 2 primary election. Together, we have begun to create enthusiasm for the future here. I want to let those who did not vote for me, or those who do not know me yet, know that I will be listening and learning about your interests and needs in the next three months.

As county commissioner, I will encourage a system of open, transparent and effective dialogue between the residents of Okanogan County and their elected officials, as well as with other local, tribal, state and federal agencies. We may not always agree, but if we can work effectively with other agencies, instead of against them, then the county will benefit.

My time as a wildland firefighter, both as a hotshot and a smokejumper, has equipped me with the necessary skills to work hard, lead effectively, listen to experts and make challenging decisions. I believe we can move responsive county government up a notch. I am eager to be your next county commissioner.
