Hornet tennis blanks Wilson Creek

WILSON CREEK – Oroville’s tennis squad traveled to Wilson Creek to take on the Devils, with only three girls matches and no boys contests on the docket.

Oroville’s Menze Pickering defeated Clarissa Hansen in first singles 6-4, 6-4, while Ashley Marcolin won her second singles match 6-4, 7-6 (7-3).

Angela Nelson and Meagan Moralez also won their doubles match 7-6, 5-7, 6-2.

The Hornets also hosted the Pateros/Brewster combination team on Thursday, April 19.

In that match, Joseph Sarmiento defeated Taylor Doucette 6-3, 7-5; Ronel Kee beat Adam Mac 6-2, 6-2; while Donny Wise teamed up with Kee in one playback doubles match and with Sarmiento in another.

For the girls Pickering lost to Betssy Hernandez 6-4, 6-0; Marcolin was edged by Emmalee Luft 7-6, 4-6, 6-4; and Maddie Richardson lost to Ivonne Espino 6-2, 6-0. In doubles, Moralez and Nelson lost to Margie Brammer and Jocelyn Reyes 6-1, 6-1; and Lily Hilderbrand and Aya Cruspero lost to Maribel Mariscal and Monica Chavez 6-2, 3-6, 6-4.

The Hornets return to action at Entiat on Thursday, April 26.
