TONASKET – The Tonasket food bank operates every Thursday from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at 300 S. Whitcomb Ave. Drop-offs can be made at Tonasket Tavern. For more information, call Jack Gavin at 486-2480 or Debby Curren at 486-2459.

Benefit dinner

OROVILLE – A benefit spaghetti dinner for Kasey Cockle will be held at the Eagles on Saturday, April 12 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Live music by the Round’s Brothers can be heard from 9 p.m. to 12 a.m. For more information call 476-2903.

Fundraiser

OROVILLE – A benefit dinner and silent auction in honor of Randy Wheat will be held on Friday, April 11 at YoYo’s Restaurant. Social hour will begin at 6 p.m. followed by a Baron of Beef dinner at 7 p.m. Call the Oroville Police Department for more information.

Spaghetti Feed

OROVILLE – A Bingo and Spaghetti Feed will be held on Saturday, April 12 at 1 p.m. for Randy Wheat. A game night will follow. Call 476-3848, Tom Teas, for more information.

May Festival Parade

OROVILLE – The Oroville May Festival invites all interested clubs, businesses, churches, organizations or individuals to participate in the 74th annual May Festival Parade on Saturday, May 10. Parade entry forms can be picked up at Prince’s Center, Oroville School District Office or Sterling Savings Bank. For more information call 476-2281 (days) or 476-3161 (evenings).

Preschool Storytime

TONASKET – Preschool Story Time will be held at the Tonasket Public Library on Wednesday, April 23 at 11 a.m. The book “Plant A Seed for Spring” will be enjoyed.

Book-it Repertory

OROVILLE – Book-it Repertory Theatre performs Minty, A Story of Young Harriet Tubman, on Friday, April 18 at 3:30 p.m. at the Oroville Library. All ages are welcome. After the performance kids are invited to a workshop in which they will write a story and adapt it into a book-it style presentation.

First District 16 meeting

TONASKET – The Fire Commissioners of Okanogan Fire District #16 in Aeneas Valley will hold their next meeting on Monday, April 14 at 6 p.m. The meeting will be held at the Tonasket Fire Hall. The public is invited to attend. Call Sam Wright 486-4800 for more information.

Green Okanogan

TONASKET – On April 19 and 20, the Community Cultural Center of Tonasket will sponsor a two day Green Okanogan Alternatives Fair. The topics covered will include alternatives in Energy, Housing and Agriculture. This is a free event beginning at 10 a.m. each day. There will be presentations, demonstrations and discussions on such topics as alternative fuel, solar greenhouses, energy and alternative building techniques.

Pilot’s Association Meeting

Weather Spotter Training

OKANOGAN – The National Weather Service in Spokane is seeking volunteers who would like to become weather spotters. A Weather Spotter Training session will be held at the Okanogan Sheriff’s office conference room. 123 5th Ave., N., Okanogan on Tuesday, April 22 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. This course is free, to register contact Glenda Beauregard at (509) 422-7206 or register online at www.okangandem.org.

TONASKET – Tonasket Elementary will have a Kindergarten Registration and Information night on Wednesday, April 23 from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Elementary School Library. Meet the school staff, receive registration paperwork and sign-up times and get answers to your questions.
