OROVILLE – Bernice “Bunny” and Ike Williams are the new owners of the Shop Tavern located at 2002 Main Street in Oroville. The business will be managed by their son, Richard Williams.
OROVILLE – Oroville teacher George Thornton received a plaque acknowledging his 33 years of service from the school board at their Monday, May 20 meeting.

Tommie June Riste of Twisp, Wash. passed away at home April 9, 2013 surrounded by her family. She was born June 21, 1940 in Ventura, Calif. to Earl and Norma Jones. She grew up in Naches, Wash. where she met and married Tom Riste on June 7, 1958.

Like every ratepayer in the county my electric bill took a big jump in August, my largest total ever for a single month. It reflects the last 6.5 percent increase imposed by the PUD and a very hot summer. I get even hotter when I think of all the millions of dollars wasted by the PUD on projects that clearly were not needed.
