Lady Hornets hope to move up in league standings

OROVILLE – The Lady Hornets faced Liberty Bell and Soap Lake last week, but were unable to come up with their a win.

Oroville took on the league-leading Liberty Bell Lions on the road Tuesday, Jan 27 and fell 27 to 53 in a game plagued by Hornet turnovers.

Hornet’s perfect league record marred by ‘ugly’ game

OROVILLE – The Oroville Hornets had an up and down week, defeating Liberty Bell on the road only to lose to Soap Lake in an “ugly” game at home.

On Tuesday, Jan. 27 the Hornets beat Liberty Bell on the Lion’s home court by a score of 45 to 35. The game started off close, with the Lions only trailing by one after the end of the first quarter. At the half-time buzzer Liberty Bell had hung close and went to the locker rooms down 19 to 21…

Hornet wrestlers completed undefeated dual league season

A very slim 36 to 35 margin is what it took for Oroville to upset the fourth-in-state ranked Liberty Bell Lions.

Davis Castillo, Nick Perez and Tyler Herrera led the way with first period pins. Matt Kelly, Justin Rounds and Carlos Herrera added forfeit wins to amass the 36 points needed for a perfect league, dual season.

Tonasket wrestling heading to districts

CHELAN – In the last league match before districts, the Tonasket wrestling team lost to Chelan, 46-27 on Thursday, Jan. 29.

At 160 pounds, Kevin Cruz won his match by decision, 9-0. Sophomore Keegan McCormick won his match at 171 pounds by a technical fault, 17-1. Senior Trey Jensen won by a pin at 135 pounds.

Oroville boys basketball continues winning streak

WATERVILLE – The Oroville Hornets boys basketball team continued with their winning ways last week, knocking off both Waterville and Manson on the road.

In their 80 to 51 victory against the Shockers Tuesday, Jan. 13, the Hornets broke Waterville’s press and scored a lot of “easy buckets,” according to Oroville Coach Carl Iverson.
