Oroville boys basketball continues winning streak

WATERVILLE – The Oroville Hornets boys basketball team continued with their winning ways last week, knocking off both Waterville and Manson on the road.

In their 80 to 51 victory against the Shockers Tuesday, Jan. 13, the Hornets broke Waterville’s press and scored a lot of “easy buckets,” according to Oroville Coach Carl Iverson.

Hornet wrestlers 3 and 0 in league duals competition

PATEROS – At a league meet in Pateros Jan. 15 the Hornets made it 3-0 in league duals with a 60 to 18 victory over the Billygoats.

“Alex Kelly started the evening with a 19 to 7 major decision followed by the ‘pinning machine’ Bryce Woodruff with yet another first-period pin for the senior,” said Hornet Coach Chuck Ricevuto.

Davis Castillo, Nick Perez, J.T. Miller, David Sanchez and Gabe Beltran picked up forfeit wins. Mike Lynch beat a very tough Ricky Heen with an impressive 10-5 decision while Tyler Herrera tech-felled his opponent in the first period 16-1.
