Tiger wrestlers gear up for districts

TONASKET – The Tonasket wrestling team wrapped up its regular season with three Caribou Trail League dual meets last week as they geared up for post-season action that begins this Friday, Feb. 3.

The Tigers split a double dual at Cashmere on Wednesday, Jan. 25, losing 39-33 to Cashmere and defeating Cascade 56-24. Chelan topped the Tigers on Senior Night in their final home meet on Saturday, 42-30.

Brewster girls display CWL dominance over Oroville

There probably aren’t a whole lot of tears being shed in the Central Washington 2B League over the prospect of Brewster moving up to the 1A ranks next year. The Bears’ girls basketball team continued its two-year rampage through the league on Friday, Jan. 21, ripping past Oroville with 32 minutes of full court pressure, 63-28.

Trey-less Hornets fall at Brewster

Much of Oroville’s success this season has come from its 3-point shooting prowess. So when the Hornets got shut out from behind the arc, while Brewster hit 10 triples in Friday’s contest, the result was predictable. The Bears’ 68-53 victory wasn’t at all surprising in that context.

Pioneers’ final flurry downs Tiger girls

Tonasket’s girls basketball team had a five point lead and plenty of momentum late in the third quarter at Omak. It wasn’t enough to carry the Tigers to victory as the Pioneers awoke with a 21-5 run to pull away to what ended up as a 53-45 victory for the ladies in red and black.

Slow start costs Tigers against Chelan

For weeks the third quarter proved to be the Tonasket boys basketball team’s undoing. On Friday, Jan. 20, it was the first quarter. The Tigers put together a solid effort over the final 24 minutes against visiting Chelan, but after falling into a 13-5 hole to start the game it wasn’t enough as the Goats held on for a 59-46 victory.

TONASKET – The Tonasket girls basketball team’s youth and inexperience were no match for unbeaten, second-ranked Cashmere on Saturday, Jan. 14, as the Bulldogs rolled past the Tigers 81-26.
