The Tonasket and Oroville track and field teams, as well as most of the other county teams and schools from as far away as Leavenworth, Moses Lake and Northport, braved cold, wet and windy conditions Saturday, March 31, and battled their way through the Hornets’ own Eagle Home Mortgage Invitational.

TONASKET – Tonasket’s baseball team earned its first win of the season, holding off an Oroville comeback before pulling away to a chilly 16-6 victory on Thursday, March 22.
The Tigers built an early 6-0 lead before Oroville fought back to trim the margin to 6-5.
TONASKET – Tonasket’s fastpitch softball team improved to 4-0 in a solid first week under first-year coach Emily Rimestad.
The schedule gets a lot tougher from here on as Caribou Trail League play started for the Tigers on Tuesday with a home game against defending league champion Cascade, but Rimestad said she and the team were looking forward to the challenge.
TONASKET – Tonasket’s tennis teams handed Oroville a pair of non-conference losses on Thursday, March 24, as the Tiger boys swept three singles matches from the Hornets and the Tonasket girls claimed a 4-1 victory.
Coaching changes don’t necessarily bring about different results. There are many factors that have contributed to Tonasket’s team sport struggles in the CTL, not the least of which is being the smallest school in the league.
EPHRATA – Tonasket and Oroville both traveled to Ephrata on Saturday, March 24, for Ephrata’s Ray Cross Invitational, featuring more than 38 schools of all sizes, including a couple from Oregon and Alaska.
