Kelby James Renkert, 26, Okanogan, was found guilty March 11 in a stipulated facts trial of third-degree assault (of a law enforcement officer), second-degree vehicle prowl and third-degree theft. Renkert was sentenced to 19.5 months in prison and fined $1,110.50 for the Nov. 12, 2012 crimes. In a separate case, Renkert pleaded guilty March 11 to first-degree criminal trespassing. He was sentenced to 364 days in jail with 201 days suspended and credit for 163 days served. The sentence is to run concurrent with the above judgment. Renkert was fined $1,010.50 for those crimes.
OKANOGAN – A man arrested for breaking in to, and burglarizing, the Okanogan Eagles was tattled on by his court ordered monitoring ankle bracelet.
TONASKET – A former Omak police officer was arrested at 58 Oakes Drive in Crumbacher after shooting at the feet of his son’s ex-girlfriend.
Superior Court Criminal Scott Anthony Smith, 40, Tonasket, pleaded guilty Feb. 20 to attempted third-degree assault and unlawful imprisonment. Jesus Antonio Renteria Hernandez, 19, Omak, pleaded guilty Feb. 21 to second-degree theft. Renteria Hernandez was sentenced to 60 days in jail and fined $2,025.41 for the July 7, 2013 crime. He also had a first-degree trafficking of stolen property charge dismissed.
