Joyce Elaine (Sloan) Birch was born in Nine Mile Falls, Wash. on Nov. 11, 1932, the second daughter of Orville and Helena Sloan. She passed away in Spokane on Oct. 1, 2009.
Eddie Colen ‘Bud’ Peery was born May 25, 1930 in Sweet Springs, Mo. to Opal and Emmit Peery. Bud met Joan Foster in 1948 while she was playing baseball. They married in 1949 in Clinton, Mo. Bud moved his family to Washington in 1954. During his youth he had many different jobs; his career as an adult was with the Palmer Lake Land Company, where he worked for 38 years before retiring in 1992.
Bul unexpectedly passed away on Sept. 14, 2009 leaving an emptiness in the lives of all who knew and loved him.
Kent A. Kidwell was born in Tonasket on Nov. 10, 1957 at St. Martin’s Hospital to parents George and Darleene Kidwell. He died suddenly at his home in Willamina, Ore. on Sept. 14, 2009.
Erna Edel, 80, died peacefully in her home on Aug. 16, 2009 of complications due to Alzheimer’s.
She was born Oct. 28, 1928 to Heinrich and Maria Motz, in Jargara, Bessarabia, Romania, in a mud brick home. When school age, she simultaneously attended German and Romanian schools completing the fifth grade.
Woodrow ‘Woody’ Ball passed away July 17, 2009 in Tucson, Ariz. He was born in Newfoundland, Canada, raised a family in Tucson and joined the Tonasket community when he married longtime Tonasket resident, Ruth Corum Pruitt Ball in 1989. They divided their time between Tonasket and Tucson and traveled widely in the U.S. and Canada until her death in 2005. He took an active part in the Tonasket community, attending the Tonasket United Church of Christ, Kiwanis, contributed many hours to Habitat for Humanity projects and his yellow Ford Model T roadster appeared in many area parades. He had many friends in the Tonasket area who are saddened by his passing.

Sara Pearl Longanecker was born on July 23, 1918 to Samuel G. and Helena Bechtel Longanecker near Omak, Wash. She completed her formal education at the Tonasket Schools, graduating in June of 1936.
Anna Marie Pridgen, 66, devoted wife, mother of four, step-mother of two and grandmother of eight and the only friend I have in the world, truly my one love, passed away in her sleep after years of battling cancer on July 7, 2009. She left to be with her Lord while sleeping comfortably in her home, in her favorite chair.
Lloyd L. “Teed” Dorrel, age 79, of Tonasket passed away March 5, 2009 in Tonasket.
Michelle Lee Kitterman, age 25, of Oroville died March 1, 2009.
