Maxine Perkins, age 85, of Tonasket died on Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2011 at her home. She was born on May 2, 1926 in Fayetteville, Ark., to parents Tomy and Rena Drake. As a young girl, she was raised in Farmington, Ark., on the same farm as her grandparents. Later she and her parents moved to Fayetteville where she attended school. This was the bedrock of her life’s journey. She married Earl Perkins on Feb. 8, 1943 and after the end of World War II, they moved to Ellisforde, Wash., where they began working at Larrabee Orchards.
