Charles “Chuck” F. Spieth, 77, of Oroville Washington, passed away on May 16, 2016, with his family by his side.

He was born on August 27, 1938 in Oroville, Washington to Forrest and Bertha (Lawrence) Spieth.

He grew up in Oroville and in March of 1957 he met Emily Stajduhar and they married October 24, 1959, Together they had two children Rhonda (1961) and Charles (1963).

In the early sixties he began his career as an Oroville Police Officer where he eventually became the Chief of Police. He also was a police officer in Pateros and a Marshal in Wilbur before retiring in 1991 as a police officer in Brewster. Chuck wasn’t the type of guy to sit around with nothing to do so shortly after he retired in 1991, he became a Farmers Insurance agent and in 1992 he joined the Oroville City Council and was later elected mayor for four consecutive terms beginning in January of 2002.

Chuck loved to joke and wouldn’t miss a chance to tell his grandchildren a silly story. He liked to spend his free time working in the yard, tending to his fruit trees, camping , hunting and fishing.

He is survived by his wife, Emily; brother David Spieth of Oroville; daughter Rhonda (Ray) Yarnell of East Wenatchee, Wash.; son Charles P. Spieth of Omak, Wash. and two grandchildren, Amy (Roman) Renderfrance of East Wenatchee, and Bradley (Kirsten) Yarnell of East Wenatchee.

At his request , no services will be performed. The Community of Oroville will hold a Celebration Social in the Oroville High School commons, Saturday, June 25 at 2 p.m.
