Community Schools plans two fundraisers

NORTH COUNTY – North Valley Community Schools is holding two fundraisers in October to help continue to fund the organization which offers several popular continuing education classes in Oroville and Tonasket.

“North Valley Community Schools is on the move with two great October fundraising events designed for family enjoyment and to support school classes,” said Tamara Porter, who is helping to organize the events.

On Saturday, Oct. 8 between 5 p.m. and 10 p.m. NVCS presents an evening of family entertainment and dining with a 50’s Dance and period dining experience at The Old Peerless Restaurant in Oroville. Live Music is offered with the local billings of Harley Hunks and The Shovelhead Band featuring Harpo Mark Morris, The Ray Dispenza Band and Joseph Enzensperger.

“Everyone is welcome. Come as you are or dig out those 50’s outfits from the back of your closet,” said Porter.

There are several contests including Best Dancers, Hula-Hoop adult and Best child as well as Best Adult and Children’s Costume. Dance attendees will act as judges. Cheeseburgers and hotdogs with the fixings as well old fashioned sundaes, root beer floats and banana splits are available for purchase. Tickets are $10 for Adults, $5 for children and $25 for a family sold at the door or at Hometown Pizza or Oroville Pharmacy. All proceeds help continue the educational opportunities that North Valley Community Schools offers.

Then, on Saturday and Sunday evenings Oct. 29 and 30, NVCS is hosting The Haunted House. “Walk through monster dwellings, see spooks water play and other horrendous activities of the Dead and have your fortune read by a famous Seer from afar.” Watch for more information say organizers.

North Valley Community Schools is a non-profit organization offering educational opportunities to people of all ages. Founded in 2003, the school has offered classes in literature and the arts, self improvement, industrial skill training like welding, educational computer learning to skills for resume writing and of course, various cooking classes to name a few. Classes are inexpensive because they are subsidized by these kinds of fund raising events. Please participate and support North Valley Community Schools.

“You can make a difference. North Valley Community Schools listens to what the community interests are for classes and employs instructors from the local area,” Porter said. “Tell us what you want to see in classes and when offered, do sign up and get enriched.”
