Interim hospital administrator introduced

TONASKET – Interim Administrator/Superintendent Ron O’Halloran was introduced at the March 12 North Valley Hospital District board meeting, along with his wife Ann, both of Curlew. O’Halloran will be filling the position vacated by Linda Michel, beginning April 1.

TONASKET – Steve McCullough has been chosen as Superintendent of the Tonasket School District after a lengthy review process by the Tonasket School Board. McCullough currently serves as the Curlew Superintendent, where he has been the past 11 years.

PUD still treading water on Similkameen, Enloe Dam

The Okanogan County Public Utility District #1 (PUD) Feb. 23 meeting saw options still being weighed regarding the fate of Enloe Dam. Commissioner John Houston reported being in contact with a Washington, DC law firm to have a letter drafted requesting an extension on the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) license to begin construction on the Enloe Dam Hydroelectric Project. The current deadline for the PUD to begin construction is July 1, 2015.

Fate of Enloe Dam still unknown

OKANOGAN – Okanogan County PUD Commissioners voted Monday, Feb. 9, to ask for a two-week extension with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) to decide whether to commission Enloe Dam and build a new powerhouse, or decommission and remove the dam.
