TONASKET – Jack Black’s Tonasket-area connections are not exactly a secret.
Nor was his vacation here last week as the well known actor/musician and his family didn’t exactly hunker down and hide during his visit. Black, his wife Tanya and young sons Sammy and Tommy, while visiting dad and stepmom Tom and Linda Black, took in plenty of the area, from buying fireworks at the stand in the TVBRC parking lot, fishing, causing a bit of a stir while grocery shopping at Grant’s and consuming a pizza with his family (and a reporter) at the Tonasket Pizza Company.

TONASKET – The Tonasket School District’s efforts to understand and develop strategies to improve the education of children coming from impoverished backgrounds received high praise after its administrators’ presentation at last week’s Washington State Leadership Academy in Spokane.
TONASKET – The structure formerly known as North Valley Assisted Living did not sit unused for long, as some of the changes recommended by the NVH Space Allocation Committee have already been implemented.
The 24th Annual Father’s Day Fly-In in Tonasket afforded lots of good food (steak barbecue Saturday night, breakfast Sunday morning) and perfect weather made for great viewing.
TONASKET – Ordinances to regulate the proliferation of yard sales in Tonasket, and to manage traffic in the Tonasket Avenue area, were passed at the Tuesday, May 28, Tonasket City Council meeting.
TONASKET – The North Valley Hospital District’s efforts to bring down its warrant levels may be slowed by urgent infrastructure needs that have cropped up recently and may cost significant money to address. Chief Information Officer Kelly Cariker, who is also in charge of facility issues, reported on two issues that need to be addressed sooner rather than later.
